Troubled Project Recovery Workshop –  Recover Your Projects

Course overview

Project failure can happen to anybody and to any project. A Standish CHAOS Chronicles report states that only 52% of completed projects meet their proposed functionality. The same study, based on more than 13,000 projects, reports that successful projects made up “just over a third or 34 percent of all projects”—meaning, the other two-thirds are failing. Another report on 9,236 information technology (IT) projects showed that project success rates have settled at a startling 28 percent (The Standish Group 2003).  A successful project according to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is one that meets its core objectives in terms of time, cost, quality and scope. A failed project is one that overruns in one or more of these aspects and does not meet the specific benefits for which it was undertaken. Rescuing troubled projects is a core skill that differentiates project managers in high demand from those who are not. This course will expose participants to the steps and tools they can use to rescue troubled projects
